Mumbai Indians (MI) opener Rohit Sharma could be in contention to feature in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 contest against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The clash is scheduled to take place at the Wankhede Stadium, on Wednesday, April 29.

Rohit Sharma has been unavailable for the last few matches due to a hamstring injury he sustained during the home loss against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 12. Rohit Sharma, who is set to turn 39 in a few days time, is MI's fourth-leading run-scorer despite missing the last three matches. He has scored 137 runs at an average of 45.66 and a strike rate of 165.06.

MI, placed ninth on the table, have won only one of their last six matches, and recently suffered a humiliating 103-run loss to their rivals, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at home.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are a franchise against whom Rohit Sharma has occasionally struggled. Out of all the teams he has played against in the IPL, the Hitman has the third-lowest average against the Orange Army, behind the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Mumbai Indians (MI).


In 25 outings, he has scored 535 runs at an average of 24.32 and a strike rate of 136.13. It was not until IPL 2017 that he recorded his first fifty against them, and he has only scored two more since then.
